To draw this Manga Boy Eye, follow the step-by-step drawings below. The new lines in each step are shown in red, so you'll know exactly what to draw next. Take your time and draw at your own pace.
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don't press down too hard. For every step, sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake.
Step 1: Draw a wide, curved line for the top part of the Manga Boy's eye. Make the left tip pointy and the right tip round. The shape should be similar to a rainbow with a flat top.
Step 2: At the bottom, draw shorter curved line for the lower portion of the boy's eye. The right side should be thick and the edges should be flush with the top part. The left tip of this line should be pointy. Notice that the lines don't connect on the left side.
Step 3: Inside the Manga Boy's eye, draw a big oval shape for the iris. The top of the oval will be hidden behind the top part of the eye so the shape of the iris will look similar to a round letter U.
Step 4: In the middle of the boy's iris, draw a small circle and shade it in for the pupil. Directly on the edges of the iris, draw two tiny circles for highlights. Draw directly over the edge of the iris. The line inside the highlight circles will be erased at a later step.
Step 5: Above the manga boy's eye, not too far up, draw a long, angled horizontal line for the eyelid crease. The line should bend on the right side. On the left tip, draw an extra line that slopes down. Add a pointy line on the top, left edge of the eye too for a bit of the eyelashes clumped together.
Step 6: Higher above the boy's eye, draw a very long, curved, horizontal line for the bottom edge of the eyebrow. The line should be similar to a giant check mark. Notice how the left end curves up a bit.
Step 7: Draw another long, curved, horizontal line at the top for the top edge of the Manga Boy's eyebrow. The higher up you draw this line, the thicker the shape of the eyebrow will be. Add a few short strokes on the left tip to make the eyebrow a bit bushy.
Step 8: Shade the inside of the boy'seyebrow. You can also leave the inside blank so that when you ink in the next step it's less smudgy. You can also skip this step and leave the inside blank and later color the inside whatever color you want.
Step 9: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the lines to make your drawing permanent. When you ink the iris, DON'T trace over the lines that are inside the small highlight circles. The insides of the highlight circles should be blank. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.
Final Step: Color your drawing! This drawing was colored digitally using a gradient that goes from dark brown to light brown. The same can be achieved with color pencils, markers or crayons! Start coloring the eye dark brown at the top and then slowly and lightly transition to light brown at the bottom. You can also use dark blue at the top and light blue at the bottom for a blue eye. Using two colors gives the iris a more rounded feel. For a simpler drawing, you can also just use a single color for the iris. You can use any color you want like purple or red. If you skipped step 8 and left the inside of the eyebrow blank, you can now color it using brown or any other color you'd like.
That's it! Keep practicing until you get the eye right. Draw it again and again using different colors and eventually you'll get better!
